"The Marketing In MLM Is Missing"

This isn't an untruth - it's actually true for most MLM systems.

The untruth is in one or other of the statements that lead to this assertion. Statements such as:

We have a fantastic product - it sells itself.

We have the best compensation plan ever invented.

We have a fantastic upline.

Now all of these statements may well have an element of truth in them. But the point is this - that simply doesn't matter.

Hang on. Don't leave just yet - let me explain.

Your product, compensation plan and upline in any of the MLM companies, are important. Critically important. They are just not as important as communicating the fact that your product is fantastic, your compensation plan is the best etc.

It doesn't matter how good these things are, your business is going nowhere without proper marketing. In any endeavour this is true.

The sad truth is that in most (if not all) MLM companies marketing is missing. The poor network marketer is encouraged to concentrate on totally outdated methods such as - make a list of all the people you know; your warm market; anyone you find who is breathing etc.

Following the mantra of "everyone needs this business, they just don't know it yet" the networker is ground down by rejection and self doubt.

"But we have the best marketing there is - word-of-mouth marketing."

No you don't. Network marketers don't really use word-of-mouth advertising or marketing. Real word-of-mouth endorsement comes from people who have no financial interest in what is being promoted. MLMers have a definite financial interest in promoting their product or opportunity.

"My company takes care of the marketing. They have the best sales aids and materials you could wish for."

Sorry to disillusion you again. They may produce the prettiest or smartest brochures and DVDs but do they address the real issue in sales? Do they provide SOLUTIONS as we discussed here.

The 'proven' system of using your names lists, hotel meetings and mini launches is not good marketing. You're still chasing after prospects.

Oh, I can hear your upline now:

"All of the successful people in this business have never missed a meeting."

Or:

"Don't re-invent the wheel. Just follow what every one of the successful people have done."

The problem with this outdated method is that you are not 'attracting' prospects to you. And this is key.
